As a lobbyist, you’ll spend a lot of time preparing “products/output” for clients.
I believe the list of 12 products below encompasses approximately 90% of the products a lobbyist will be asked to develop.
If you work in certain niches, such as chemicals, you will likely find yourself branching out into new advisory products. Each discipline will bring the need to move your knowledge from the apprentice, to the journeyman and finally, for a few, master craftsman.
A lot of briefings, position papers, etc. are pointless. They don’t convey the case clearly and concisely to the intended audience. The recipient is left none the wiser, often confused, and has a slight aftertaste of a Hershey’s Chocolate bar – unpleasant, toxic, and metallic – that suggests you have wasted their time.

You’ll notice that some items are missing: agendas for Internal calls and PowerPoint presentations. The first is important but mundane. As for the second, I find PowerPoint a poor medium of communication. It seems to close the audience’s mind down or give them neckache.
